What it does
Updates collects your notifications — mentions, thread assignments, replies, kudos and flags. It powers the Updates counter and the bell in the top bar. Unlike your Tasks, Updates are dismissible: clear them as you read them.

Click the bell in the top bar for a quick view, click Updates in the navigation, or go to /dashboard/updates.
Step by step
Read and clear updates
- Open the bell or the Updates page.
- Click an update to jump straight to the thread it's about.
- Click the ✕ on an update to dismiss it, Mark all read to clear the unread count (keeping the
items), or Clear all to empty the whole inbox at once.
- When your inbox holds more than one type of update, filter chips appear at the top — an All chip
(with the total count) followed by one chip per type (e.g. Mention 3, Kudos Received 1). Click a type to narrow the list to it; click All to show everything again. The chosen filter is kept in the page address (?type=…), so it survives a refresh and the back button, and you can copy the link to share a pre-filtered view (each person still only sees their own updates).
- An Unread chip (with the count of unread updates) sits beside the type chips — click it to show only
updates you haven't read yet. It combines with the type filter (e.g. unread Mentions only) and is also kept in the address (?unread=1). If a filter combination has nothing to show, the list says "No updates match this filter" with a Show all link.
What each screen shows
- Bell dropdown — your most recent updates, a Mark all read action and a link to view all.
- Updates page — the full list, each tagged with its type (Mention, Assigned, Thread reply, Kudos received, Flag raised…), with per-item dismiss plus Mark all read and Clear all actions. The page title carries a total count badge and, when you have any, an N unread badge.
Tips
- An unread update highlights with a tinted background; dismissing it removes it for good.
- The red badge on the bell and the Updates nav item both reflect your unread count.
- Too noisy? In Settings → Notifications you can mute whole types (e.g. "Thread resolved") so they
never reach your bell — this only affects you.
Troubleshooting
- Too many updates? Use Mark all read to reset the counter without losing the items, or **Clear
all** to wipe the inbox entirely.
