What it does
A room is a quick, ad-hoc space that sits alongside your workspaces. Unlike a workspace (a long-lived home for projects), a room is meant to be temporary — a launch war room, an incident huddle, a working group for one decision. Each room has its own member list and can be closed when the work is over and reopened if it flares up again.
Where to find it
Click Rooms in the top navigation, or go to /dashboard/rooms.
Step by step
Create a room
- On the Rooms page, click New room.
- Give it a name (e.g. "Launch war room").
- Optionally tick the teammates you want to invite — you're added automatically as the creator.
- Click Create room.
Chat in a room
- Open a room from the grid.
- On the left is the Chat stream — type in the box at the bottom and press Enter to send (use
Shift+Enter for a new line). Messages show who said what and when.
- Type @ to mention a teammate from the dropdown. They get a higher-signal Mention in their
Updates (the rest of the room gets the lighter room-message ping).
- Hover a message you sent and click the trash icon to delete it. Owners and admins can delete any
message.
- Posting to a room bumps it to the top of the grid as recently active. A closed room is read-only —
reopen it to chat again.
- When you post, the room's other members get an Update (the header bell). You can mute **Room
messages under Settings → Notifications** if you'd rather not be pinged.
Manage members
- Open a room from the grid.
- Under Members (right side), add a teammate from the Add a teammate… dropdown, or remove someone
with the − button next to their name.
Rename a room
- Owners, admins, the creator and members can open the ⋯ menu and choose Rename to give the room a
clearer name.
Close or reopen a room
- On a room, click Close room to tuck it away once the work is done. Closed rooms drop off the main grid
but keep their members and history.
- Click Show closed on the Rooms page to reveal them (marked with a Closed badge), open one, and
click Reopen to bring it back.
- To remove a room for good, open its ⋯ menu and choose Delete room.
What each screen shows
- Rooms grid — one card per open room with its name, member avatars, member count and when it was last
active. Use Show closed / Hide closed to toggle closed rooms.
- Room detail — a Chat stream with a message composer, the room's member list with add/remove
controls, and the close/reopen and delete actions.
Tips
- Use a room when a conversation doesn't belong to a single project — it keeps the noise out of your
workspaces.
- Close rather than delete when a room might come back — closing is reversible and keeps the record.
Troubleshooting
- Can't see the close/manage controls? Org owners and admins, the room's creator, and current members
can manage a room.
